We won't likely have photos or video of this, because cameras are not allowed at this venue, but it is CanadaJams.ca's desire to show a cross section of entertainment for you.
We know we get pretty much stuck on rock, because that's what we like most, but we also like Stompin' Tom Connors.
So, it's off to a Hamilton tonight - and please check back later for the review. |

(answer below)

Stompin' Tom at Hamilton Place
Wednesday, Sept. 7th 2005
As I looked around the theatre, I thought we all looked like we could be one of the characters that Stompin' Tom sings about.
There were plaid shirts, grey hair and spectacles everywhere.
I swear I saw Red River Jane and Big Joe Mufferaw arm in arm.
I loved it.
Stompin put on a near enough 3 hour show.
(ok a long intermission but still...)
They were making a DVD that night.
Stompin' did almost all my favourites.
Red River Jane 69 Rip Off Lane.
Big Joe Mufferaw all the Way from Ottawa
Sudbury Saturday Night
Ben in the Pen Where we Take the Guff and We Suffer
Bud the Spud From the Bright Red Mud
The Ketchup Song - Ketchup Loves Potatoes
The Hockey Song - you have ALL heard this.
Goodbye Rubberhead So Long BOOB
C-A-N-A-D-A
Margo's Got the Cargo and Reggie's Got the Rig
The Yodelling one.
The Gumboot one.
Luke's Guitar (twang twang a diddle)
Tons of them, and we were delighted.
To my memory, Tom was pretty well liked in my farmer-friend crowd up north in Camp Rungo. (Thats' Durham ON at Paul Runge's farm.)
One of us had seen him at some bar up north and just HAD to turn us all on to it. We danced and sang all his tunes - especially "My Brother Paul" which was pretty close to the situation up there.
I've had many Stompin' records since.
History:
(Sending Back the Junos)
There is something that is very important about Stompin' Tom to the Canadian Music Industry.
I think you should all know about how he got mad at the Music Industry over a Canadian Content issue during a gig at the CNE.
He quit the Music Industry for 15 years.
Here is the story as presented through his website:

Stompin' Facts:
Stompin' Tom Connors (honorary doctor of laws) is an accomplished musician, songwriter and winner of six Juno Awards for the category Male Country Singer. ( he gave the Juno's back - did ya se that?)
Stompin' Tom is a true reflection of hard-working Canadians. In a music career spanning over four decades, Stompin' Tom has written more than 300 songs and his four albums sold more than 3 million copies. He has also received a citation from Queen Elizabeth and awarded the Order of Canada, among other achievements.
He even has a key to the city of Peterborough!
Which, by the way, is the answer to the JamQuiz.

Thanks Tom, for returning to the Industry.
